A family made up of different thumbprints.

We are using 'My Favourite Words' at the CDC. (Also known as the 'F-words for Child Development.')

My Favourite Words is a framework developed by the research group CanChild. It explores 6 key areas of child development, with a focus on a child's strengths and what they can do.

The 6 key areas of child development are

  • FUN: Activities that your child enjoys. What makes them happy?
  • FAMILY: Your child's circle of care. This can be extended family and friends.
  • FRIENDSHIPS: Your child's relationships with others. Can be friends, pets, imaginary friends.
  • FITNESS: How your child works on their physical and mental health.
  • FUNCTIONING: What your child can do.
  • FUTURE: Hopes and dreams for your child (and family).

You will learn more about 'My Favourite Words' from your child's CDC team. You can also learn more from CanChild.
