The Child Development Centre offers a variety of programs and services designed to meet the unique needs of children and families. Therapists and families work together to develop a Family Plan that includes goals that are important to the family.
We provide a wide range of services; from answering questions about behaviour, sleep and feeding, to providing physiotherapy or speech language therapy, to working with families whose child has just received a diagnosis. Some of the services we offer include:
We see children and families in their home, at their childcare centre, at our Child Development Centre or anywhere in their community that suits them best. Your child does not need to have a diagnosis. If you have any questions about your child's development contact us, we are here to help. To inquire about accessing services, you can call, email or fill out our online referral form.
You can print off or view a brochure which provides an overview of our services.
We offer services through our 2 main locations in Whitehorse. One is located at 206 Hanson Street, and the other is through our office in Kwanlin Dün, which is located in the Dusk'a Headstart Family Learning Centre.
We travel to all the rural communities to see families. Teams of therapists visit communities monthly or bi-monthly, staying for 2 - 3 days in communities that are farther away. View our current travel schedule.
This program is for parents who want to know more about their child's development, know what to expect next and ask questions. It is for children birth to 3 years of age in Whitehorse and up to 4 years of age in the communities. Call us if you are interested in a Follow Along appointment for you and your child. You can also learn more in our Follow Along brochure.
Our Early Learning Program Support (ELPS) team works collaboratively with licensed child care programs and early childhood educators to provide support in areas they request. For instance, sometimes children struggle with following the daily routine used by a child care centre. Our Early Learning Program Support team can help. This could be offering strategies to engage children with diverse needs in activities, or suggestions to support the unique needs of a specific child. We work alongside early childhood educators, and take their lead in how they want us to help. We can also offer professional development tailored to the needs of the centre/employees. Visit our ELPS Can Help Facebook page for contact information.
The Child Development Centre is committed to providing quality service using a family centered approach.
