Questions? We Can Help!

November 06, 2024

Do you have questions or concerns about your child's development? Contact us. We can help.

We help answer your questions and provide therapeutic support in areas such as: movement, speech/communication, social-emotional, behaviour, sleeping, eating, toileting, and sensitivities (to sound or touch).

Our services are available to all Yukon children (including Atlin, BC). You can contact us with questions - big or small - about your child's development. All of our services are free and we travel to all Yukon communities.

Some reasons to contact us:

If you are curious about your child's development, or if your child:

  • is not making or responding to sounds during the first year
  • has fewer than 20 words at 18 months of age
  • has a hard time playing with other children
  • gets upset with minor changes to their routine
  • has difficulty paying attention or understanding directions
  • is not crawling by 12 months
  • is very sensitive to touch, sounds, movement or smells

If you aren't sure about something - contact us!

What does it look like to receive services?

The type of services and number of sessions will depend on your child's needs and what works for you. Visitis are typically about 45 minutes long and are fun and play-based. We can meet at our centre, your home, or another location that works for you.

Some of the services we offer:

  • Therapy - for example, physiotherapy if your child needs support crawling or walking, or speech-language therapy if they need help talking, understanding language or communicationg with others.
  • Ideas and activities to try at home with your child.
  • Visits to child care programs to collaborate with child care educators to support your child. We also have an Early Learning Program Support (ELPS) team that works alongside Early Childhood Educators and early learning programs to support inclusion in areas such as programming, room arrangements, behaviour guidance, social-emotional learning and more.
  • Developmental assessments to look at milestones based on your child's age.
  • Diagnostic services - for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Complex Behaviour and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

We also offer a Follow Along program - where we meet with you and your child a few times each year to answer questions, and look at milestones through play. Learn more about our Follow Along program.

How to access services

You can refer/sign-up your child yourself, or you can refer another child. We only ask that the parent/caregiver is informed of the referral.

If you aren't sure if want to receive services, or want to learn more, call or email and we'll be happy to chat with you!

We are a non-governmental organization, and our services are free and confidential.
